  Freedom of Information Act

The National Forensic Mental Health Research and Development Programme is based in the University of Liverpool and commissions research on behalf of the Department of Health. As such the programme’s annual report and research findings are incorporated in to the DH Freedom of Information publication scheme.

Publication scheme:

The FMH Programme makes information available to the public in electronic and printed form as follows:

1. Electronically on the FMH website:

  • Final reports / executive summaries of all completed research. These files can be viewed or downloaded free of charge for personal use or private study. Information regarding research in progress can be obtained via either the FMH website or the National Research Register
  • The project costs and grantholder details of all contracts awarded by the FMH Programme
  • Pages explaining how the FMH programme works
  • Expert papers, newsletters, annual reports, reports from workshops and seminars

2. Printed

- expert papers and annual reports (subject to availability)

Information not covered by the publication scheme

From 1 January 2005 information not made available through the publication scheme may be requested. Requests should be made in writing to the Information Manager at the following address:

The FMH Programme will normally have 20 working days to respond. Within this time frame the FMH Programme will confirm or deny in writing whether it holds the requested information and, subject to exemptions, will communicate this information to the enquirer.

Information subject to an exemption in the Act will not be released. A fee may be charged.

Complaints and appeals. If you are not satisfied with the way we have handled your request or with the reasons we have given for refusing to provide information, you have the right to appeal. Questions, comments or complaints should be sent to the Information Manager at the above address.

The Information Commissioner is responsible for enforcing the operation of the scheme and you may appeal direct to him at any time data@dataprotection.gov.uk
